Katiedid the arm party.

It's FRIDAY!
I have had a BUSY week.
And I am so behind on blogging for many reasons.
One day SOON I hope to blog about them and fill you all in.

Anyway...
My online Stella and Dot Trunk Show is about to wrap up and I just wanted to show you a few more of my personal favorites.

THE ARM PARTY.
As I have mentioned before, I am NOT a less is more kinda gal.
MORE is always MORE to me!
I usually create a different "arm party" each day to match my outfit.
My very favorite bangle, the Bardot Spiral Bangle, is always mixed in!
It matches EVERYTHING.

I am most definitely adding these to my "arm party" collection too!

And lastly, I was looking through my personal jewelry collection and noticed I don't have a great set of pearls?! So, this Sofia Pearl Bib necklace will be all mine very soon!

Hurry!
Shop my trunk show today!

Everyone needs a fabulous ARM PARTY!
Have a lovely weekend!

Katiedid Stella and Dot.

Y'all,
I am "hosting" an online Stella and Dot Trunk Show for the next 2 weeks!

Truth:
I am a self-confessed jewelry-aholic and Stella and Dot is my favorite brand for many reasons.
1. They have truly classic pieces that can be carried over from season to season and year to year.
Example:
Today's outfit with the signature clover necklace.
Really, this necklace can spice up any plain {and clearly Mom!} outfit. It's also perfect for layering with other necklaces.
2. Not only do they have classic pieces, but really playful ones too. I will be splurging on this fantastic gold bib number.
3. The quality of their jewelry is top notch. No darkening of the "gold" or funny smelling metal.
4. They have something for everyone! I have already started thinking about Christmas gifts and have my eye on a few things for the favorite girls in my life.

Here is the link to my online trunk show:

It's ok... Go ahead...
And do a little mid-week shopping!
Spanks!

Katiedid fib and flashback.

The fib.
I said my next post would be a birthday recap.
 I fibbed. Oopsie.
 I was extremely busy doing clinic work and darting to and from multiple other appointments this week.
Hopefully, between the school work and fireworks this weekend I will be able to whip up a little birthday special for you.

The flashback.
This is MM and I on the 4th of July in 2003.
He was 21 and I was 18.
It's perfectly acceptable to laugh!
I did for about 15 minutes.
{Did you check out the classy choker and belly button ring? Unacceptable.}

Have a safe, happy, and fun-filled 4th of July weekend!
I am contemplating lighting this picture on fire with a sparkler.

Katiedid erase minds.

See the little gadget pictured below.
Yep, that is my magic thermometer mind eraser.

The Story:
Today I triaged a super cute young-ish couple in the ER.
I obtained the husband's vital signs and swiped this little mystery wand across his forehead and then touched it behind his ear.
His reply: "What is that crazy thing? A mind eraser?"
His wife's reply: "No honey, if it was they would use that after they violate you."
My reply as I busted out with laughter: "Now that would be awesome!"
Our following conversation may or may not have been work appropriate.

Oh, the fun I could have with my own personal mind eraser.
"No MM, I did not just carry in multiple shopping bags full of new purchases..."
Slide the mind eraser across his head.
"Ugh, I did not just see the receipt for my birthday present in my husband's email..."
Slide the mind eraser across my head.
"No Mom, you have not spent the last week in pain, nauseous, and laying in bed..."
Slide the mind eraser across her head.

The Update:
My Galveston trip was flawless!
My fake patient encounter was "beautiful."
I stitched up some piggy feet nice and pretty.
I did take a picture. Want to see?!
I scored some sassy new tops from Haba's.
I am currently on day 5 of my consecutive school/clinic/work schedule. 1 more to go! Holla.
My birthday is next Tuesday! I have no big plans for the day and I LOVE IT.

 Do something worthy of mind erasing this weekend!
I dare you.

Katiedid go Gaga.

Over the past few weeks I have become insanely obsessed captivated with Lady Gaga.
I love her uniqueness, artistry, honesty, and total weirdness!
Her message of self-empowerment and individuality is truly inspiring.

True story:
Being my conservative little self, I was a totally taken back by her provocative costumes and performances at first.
My parents felt the exact same way same way.
Last weekend we all watched this  Lady Gaga & The Art of Fame interview on 60 Minutes.
By the time it was over, everyone was one of her little "monsters."
I encourage you to watch it.
She is quite brilliant.

On to the happenings of this week...
The beginning of the week went quite smoothly.
If I was fabulous enough to have the PAPA-PAPPARAZI following me, you would have seen this smiling face in the clinic.

 My mom has been struggling with lower back pain/sciatica for quite some time and was scheduled for a spinal surgery on Wednesday.
On Monday she had to be evaluated by a Cardiologist for an abnormal finding on her EKG.
After a few tests {that took all day!} she got two thumbs up for surgery.
Reassuring right?!
Not when both of her daughters are ER nurses.

Anyway, Wednesday came and into surgery she went!
{Photo credit goes to my sister.}
My Dad and Holly were there bright and early to see her off. I was in the clinic.
Bad daughter, I know. I feel awful.
However, I was there with mini-cupcakes in hand shortly after she arrived in her room.
The little yummies didn't make up for my absence, but they were delicious!

The surgery went well, minus one small complication.
But, she should recover just fine in the end.
This sweet lady gets BEYOND sick after receiving any sort of sedation/anesthesia medication.
We have tried to pinpoint certain medications that could cause the after effects, pre-medicate to prevent them, and just about everything in between.
Unfortunately, she was just BORN THIS WAY.
So the next 2 days were pure TORTURE for her.
{And for my devoted Dad who never leaves her side. Bless his heart.}
She is such a trooper and finally made it home on Friday afternoon.
Please pray that she has a quick, simple, and speedy recovery.

The middle of my week was spent running between home, the clinic, and the hospital.
MM was out of town for a few days, which makes for a very BAD ROMANCE.

Yesterday, I was completely exhausted but dragged myself to work anyway.
While in line ordering my usual Skinny Vanilla Latte I couldn't help but wish I was filling up these big bad boys with my favorite adult beverage instead.

How is this for a 6am POKER FACE?!

In attempt to not BE A DRAG, JUST BE A QUEEN I wore these sparkly kicks to work to make me smile throughout the day!
And it was our 20 month Anniversary yesterday {yes, I still count} so it was appropriate to wear a little momento from the big day!

There you have it.
We are caught up to today {Saturday}.
The maid came this morning.
I just finished and submitted all my school work for the week.
Now, I am officially on THE EDGE OF GLORY to a much deserved weekend.
MM and I are heading over to a friends house shortly.
We will be poolside, soaking up the sun, with our favorite drinks in hand.

Hope you have a glorious weekend!
And go Gaga.

Katiedid pile on the bracelets.

The more the merrier.
The brighter the better.
This girl could never wear too many!
{Excuse the ever so puffy hand veins. It's HOT in Houston. When I get hot, I puff up.}

That's all I have for this Wednesday.
BIG first test of the summer is going down tomorrow.
After that happens, I'll post a long last week/Memorial Day weekend recap.
And the pictures will be piled on in that post!

Katiedid snack happy.

Here are a few of my favorite snacks that = YUMMY in my tummy!
1. Pita Pal Original Flavor Hummus. I recently joined Costco and {to my pure delight!} discovered they sell this gigantic tub of hummus. The hubster and I devour this entire tub each week.
2. Mt. Olive Bread & Butter Pickles made with Splenda. I may or may not have eaten the entire jar on day one. Enough said.
3. Fage Greek Yogurt. I eat one every single day. Each serving has 12g of protien! Couldn't believe my eyes. {Blueberry and strawberry are my personal favorites.}
4. Baby carrots. Plain or with the hummus. Doesn't matter. I can not get enough of these babies!

And just to throw another picture into this post, here I am extremely HAPPY at work today after finding out I have a potential family practice clinical site for this summer!
THUMBS UP!
{I have been losing sleep over this for the past three weeks.}

I hate, hate, hate asking people for favors.
It causes me severe anxiety.
{I would much prefer to just do it all by myself.}
And asking someone if I can tag along with them for three months is no small committment on their part.

In the past I have used an agency through school for clinical assignments.
Well, this summer they basically said, "You are on your own chick."
TOTAL SHOCKER.
Today the agency called said there was a potential spot for me.
Keeping my fingers crossed the lady seals the deal this afternoon!

Want another reason for this mid-week happiness?!
Today is day SIX of the China Glaze yellow manicure and only ONE teeny-tiny chip is visible on my thumb.
INCREDIBLE.
You proved me wrong China.

Get happy today!
One way or another.

Katiedid say hello.

 Hello yellow!
{You are so bright and cheery compared to the nude I have been sporting for months!}
Truthfully, I have been counting down the days until I could justify another mani-pedi expense.
The last one I got was in Lafayette {2 weeks ago}... And really, who needs one each week?

I am completely obsessed with the hole-in-a-wall fabulous Neon Nail {$25 mani-pedi PLUS a neck massage. Who can beat that?!} and have been longing to follow the BRIGHT-SUNSHINEY trend.
So, yesterday I made it happen.

The OPI yellow they had was heinous.
Think pale/nasty/jaundiced yellow color for those of you in health care.
{Yes, I drink but there is no cirrhosis going on in my liver!}
So, I opted for the thicker/darker China Glaze yellow called Happy Go Lucky.
And it has made me smile inside each and every time I see it.
Love.

I was slightly skeptical about choosing the China Glaze {being the OPI addict that I am} but we are one day in and not a chip yet!
Honestly, I hope it lasts forever.

Hello best friend!
Alli make a visit to Houston for the weekend.
And I make a visit to Washington last night to see her sweet face!
She is the definition of "best friend."
 A girl who knows you inside and out and loves you anyway.
A girl you truly gets you and all your weirdness.
A girl that never needs an explanation.
A girl that you can pick up with EXACTLY where you left off last time.
A girl that I love with my whole heart.

It was fate for us to be best friends.
Living on the same street, growing up together, being inseperable in high school, roommates in college, and the MOH #2 in my wedding.

It was so great to catch up last night!
My heart is happy today.

Hello kisses!
I am so happy you are back in my life!
The truth is...I married a germ freak.
A constant hand washer, anti-bacterial lover, and do not even think about coughing on me person.
{Being a nurse, I couldn't be more opposite.}
The past week I have been a sore throat, congested, and constant nose blowing mess.
Needless to say, there has been absolutely no touching in our house.
Last night the kisses came back!
{Boy, did I miss them.}

Hello beautiful day!
Today is a perfect day in Houston. Sunny, breezy, warm, with ZERO humidity.
I live for {and my hair longs for} days like these.

 I am off to say hello to Body Pump at the gym.
Then I will be saying hello to my bathing suit, backyard, and the sweet sun to get a little tan on.
And finally, I will be saying hello to the new Mrs. Moye {and all my other favorite nurse friends} at her wedding {to another one of the nurses we used to work with}.
She caught the bouquet at my wedding!
Guess it worked!

Hope you have a weekend full of fun hello's!
{I should have mentioned hello long post at the beginning! Forgive me.}
